Music is ideal for learning about and applying math concepts such as ratios, fractions, measurement, and persistence. Dr. Mark’s Music Puzzles are sonic Cuisenaire rods. 

Systematically, students create their versions of beloved music from the public domain beginning with the whole, then two halves, then four quarters, and so on. It’s as simple as slicing a lemon, except this lemon has more color choices than yellow.

I hope that you take a moment to download the puzzle, play around with it and then give the zip file to a tween or teen and get their feedback.
